WHAT’S NEW?
It’s been a busy spring. Much of my studio time focused on preparing other people’s work for exhibition. Between my weekly mixed media workshops at Building Bridges Homeless Services plus the fabric arts workshops Laura Fogg and Betty Lacy did there, we curated 35 pieces into a show that has been on exhibit at the Ukiah Public Library during May and June. A new series is underway, paintings of people in settings that strongly convey the time of day by the quality of light.
We close out the year with some great recent work by participants in collage/mixed media workshops at Building Bridges, serving the unhoused communities of Ukiah. From simply cutting out squares from magazines to engaging in picture-making mindful of color and pattern, the growth has been great - and the spirit in the room just wonderful between we the artists, the participants, and the Building Bridges staff. Thanks to my collaborators Betty Lacy, Laura Fogg, and Melissa Carr, and to our staff liaison Haley Dorner of RCS. Onward to 2025!
